The Little Airbus That Could
- Zurich to Dubai, UAE

So about once a year I have the privilege of flying on the Emirates A380, the world's largest, and arguably nicest, passenger jet airliner. What can I say? Life can be hard.
Each time it takes off, I am reminded of a children's book I enjoyed growing up called "The Little Engine That Could". For those not in the know, the book teaches children the importance of optimism and hardwork as it centers around a long, broken down train that needs to be pulled up a mountain. All the larger, stronger trains refuse to bring him up the mountain, but the smallest engine agrees to give it a go - using the motto "I think I can I think I can I think I can" and eventually succeeding in pulling the train over the mountain.
As the 600+ tons of steal, seats, luggage and humans chugged along the runway, gradually gaining momentum for its liftoff, I too used a motto to help with the climb: "I hope you can I hope you can I hope you can I hope you can!".
Writing this from the safety of Dubai International Airport, it is safe to say that it did it. :)
